Bethel College Native Prairie Areas

Bethel College manages two native prairie tracts of land: a rare 80-acre Sand Prairie Natural History Preserve just minutes from campus as well as the 80-acre Broadie Prairie Preserve in the Kansas Flint Hills (the largest expanse of original tallgrass prairie left on the continent). Both areas are preserved for education and appreciation. They also provide numerous and varied opportunities for student research on prairie ecology. Persons wishing to visit or conduct non-obtrusive research at these sites should contact Jon K. Piper at the Bethel College Biology Department (phone 316-284-5215 or e-mail) for site directions.
